Edinburgh Castle

Visiting the world famous icon is a must while staying in Edinburgh and the Lothian’s. Built on top of an extinct volcano, the castle has viewed many of the defining events in Scottish history. Key attractions of the Castle are; the Scottish Crown Jewels, including the crown, the sword and the sceptre which are amongst the oldest in Europe and displayed with the coronation seat of Scottish Kings known as the Stone of Destiny; the St. Margaret’s Chapel, the Great Hall and the Royal Apartments which were built in 1511 by James IV and are the oldest buildings in Edinburgh; an atmospheric visitor experience about the Prisons of War in the late 18th Century that were locked in the underground vaults; and of course the one O’clock Gun, which has been fired almost daily since 1861.

Getting there:
25 minute drive from Aberlady or a 15 minute train journey into Edinburgh from Longniddry Train Station. The Castle is located in the very centre of the Old Town, Edinburgh. Post code: EH1 2NG

This weekend - Mussels, langoustine, lobster, monkfish, sardines, black back bream, lamb chops, steak, liver and bacon, pimms, pink prossecco and ice, three outside eating areas basking in the sun.  Oh and fresh asparagus with hollandaise. Ducks restaurant or Donalds bar bistro

New season asparagus, strawberries and raspberries.

Also Port Seaton Lobster and langoustine yum

The mussels are huge at the moment.

You can have them in Donalds as well!
